It is my great honor and pleasure to be here today to celebrate the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest and Auburn University.
This agreement marks a new milestone in the long-standing and fruitful cooperation between our countries.
The United States and Romania share a strong bond of friendship and partnership, based on common values and interests. We have worked together to promote democracy, security, and prosperity in the region and beyond. We have also collaborated in various fields of science, technology, culture, and education.
Education is one of the most important pillars of our relationship. It is through education that we can foster mutual understanding, exchange ideas, and create opportunities for future generations.
Education is also the key to addressing the global challenges that we face today, such as national resiliency, food security, public health, and innovation.
This is why I am delighted to be here today for the signing of this agreement, which will enhance the academic collaboration between our two universities.
Agronomy is a vital discipline for ensuring the sustainability and well-being of our societies and our planet. By working together, we can advance the frontiers of knowledge, develop new solutions, and train the next generation of leaders in these fields.
This agreement is also a testament to the strong state partnership between Romania and Alabama, which has been in place since 1993.
This partnership has facilitated numerous exchanges and joint activities between our military forces, government agencies, civil society organizations, and now educational institutions. It has also fostered personal ties and friendships that enrich our cultures and values.
I would like to congratulate both universities for their vision and commitment to this partnership. I am confident that this agreement will open new doors for cooperation and benefit both sides. I look forward to seeing the results of your joint projects and initiatives in the near future.
