The American Shelves offer access to resources about the U.S. and U.S. culture. Their book collections include hundreds of titles offering access to reference books, classic and contemporary U.S. literature, English language teaching methodology and English language learning, as well as children’s books.
The shelves are also spaces for learning and dialogue about the U.S. values and the world challenging issues. They contribute to strengthening the U.S. – Romania strategic partnership through a better understanding of the U.S. history and culture. They also serve as venues for sharing common U.S. – Romanian values through interesting and interactive programs with American speakers.
There are 26 American Shelves in Romania: Alba Iulia, Alexandria, Alma Vii, Arad, Bistriţa, Botoşani, Braşov, Brăila, Deva, Drobeta Turnu-Severin, Focșani, Galaţi, Miercurea Ciuc, Oradea, Piatra Neamţ, Râmnicu Vâlcea, Reşiţa, Sfântu Gheorghe, Sibiu, Slobozia, Suceava, Târgu Jiu, Timişoara, Tulcea, Vaslui, and Zalău.
