Abigail (Abby) Rupp joined the Foreign Service in 1997. A consular-coned officer, she has served overseas in Moldova, Ghana, Russia and Ethiopia, and in Washington in the Bureau of Consular Affairs, the Foreign Service Institute, and the Office of the Deputy Secretary of State. She served as the U.S. Consul General in Florence, Italy from July 2014 to June 2017. Ms Rupp arrived in Bucharest in August 2017, to begin her position of Deputy Chief of Mission.
Ms. Rupp grew up in Columbia, Maryland and Reston, Virginia. She has a bachelor’s degree in Foreign Service from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and a master’s degree in Public Policy from George Washington University. She speaks Russian, Romanian, and Italian. She is married to Christopher Misciagno, a Diplomatic Security Special Agent. They have three children.
