
Representatives of the U.S. Department of State and Embassy of the United States of America and representatives of the ministries and agencies of the Government of Romania and of the Cabinet of the Vice Prime-Minister for the Implementation of Strategic Partnerships held an Interim Strategic Partnership meeting in Bucharest, Romania, on March 30th, 2018.
The meeting was an opportunity for the parties to take stock of developments in bilateral cooperation, exchange information on Romanian and U.S. policy, identify new projects for bilateral cooperation, and begin the process of preparing the next Romania-U.S. Strategic Partnership Meeting, expected to take place in Bucharest later this year.
The participants welcomed the 100th Anniversary of the birth of a modern and united Romania and the important role played by the United States in this regard.
Representatives talked about bilateral cooperation in defense and security, regional issues, cyber security, energy security, trade and investment, law enforcement, scientific and cultural exchanges, and the U.S. Visa Waiver Program.
The Interim Strategic Partnership Meeting included representatives at the technical level from both parties and was hosted by the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
