Romanian alerts and advisories
Romania remains in a nationwide state of alert for thirty additional days from June 12, 2021, but the Government announced new relaxation measures. The new restrictions generally increase capacity and participant limits for public and private events, restaurants and resorts, and other entertainment activities. In general, events and venues may accommodate clients at full capacity if all participants are vaccinated. Otherwise, the measures reflect a gradual relaxation of restrictions. The most recent decision can be found here.
Please continue to monitor all security alerts from the U.S. Embassy and obey all ordinances imposed by the Government of Romania. The latest updates and further details on the state of alert are available on the Romanian Ministry of Interior’s website here.
Foreign citizens may enter Romania but are subject to quarantine requirements, unless they present testing, vaccination, or proof of recovery requirements. Regulations continue to change so before traveling to Romania, please consult your airline as well as the Romanian Embassy in Washington, D.C. (here) or in the country of your departure for entry requirements. You may also visit the Ministry of Interior’s website here (Romanian language only), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ website here, or the Romanian Border Police’s website here for additional details on entry requirements.
