These past days have been both dynamic and very moving. We again offer condolences on the tragic loss of life on October 30 and in the days since. We applaud the non-violent exercise of freedom of speech and assembly, and encourage all Romanians to stay engaged in the civic process.
The United States of America and Romania are allies who enjoy a strong and vibrant strategic partnership. We look forward to working with President Iohannis, Interim PM Cimpeanu and the interim government on our shared priorities. Ultimately, the US-Romania relationship is strong because of our shared democratic values, our commitment to collective security for our citizens, and our desire to build a shared prosperity for both our countries.
